Course Goals

The overarching goal of this course is for participants to redesign, develop, and/or create relevant instructional elements including resources, activities, and assessments. The ultimate goal of this course is for participants to implement these revised or newly created instructional elements into their own course(s).

Course Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  1. Plan the integration of OER or other affordable instructional materials into a target course
  2. Create a Course Roadmap for a target course
  3. Apply Universal Design Principles to an assignment
  4. Create an accessible course syllabus
  5. Self-reflect on your learning experience

Course Overview

The third piece of the HSU Sustainable Learning & Quality Assurance program, this online course is designed to help participants learn how to apply the CSU Quality Learning and Teaching (QLT) Objectives to improve the design and effectiveness of courses with the goal of maximizing student engagement and success. As you embark on this QLT journey, you will have opportunities to explore Canvas and other technology tools and share ideas and resources as a community of learners.

This Canvas course is structured in 3 modules; each module contains materials and activities to help guide your course redesign and assess your learning. As you complete the activities, consider how you might include similar activities in your own courses.

The Download CSU QLT Evaluation Instrument

will be utilized as a framework for redesign; QLT best practices apply to all learning formats including face-to-face, blended and fully-online. Learn more about QLT by viewing the QLT Resources page.
